  • In a sector that’s booming, the need for skilled talent is high, which is why Michael Farragher is such a valued trainer of Supply Chain and Logistics.

Not only does Michael bring over 25 years of management experience in multi-million-dollar Fast Moving Consumer Goods supply chains, but a devotion to delivering relevant skills to existing and new workers in this field.

Once his students have completed their qualification, he strives to connect them with their next steps. “He goes above and beyond to assist his students in finding a job,” says Dennis O’Brien, Michael’s colleague.

Michael’s commitment to professional development extends to not only himself and his students, but the entire VET system. He’s been part of TAFE NSW’s ADAPT project as a subject matter expert in redesigning various qualifications at a national level, providing ideas and solutions around implementing relevant industry equipment, technology, and software to create a more engaging offering. • Geraldine Hodkinson has helped countless students onto their career pathways. In her role as VET Hospitality Trainer and Careers Advisor, she brings empathy, a sense of humour and limitless support for her students.

Geraldine is treasured by staff and students alike for her dedication, compassion and authentic desire to help people. “What sets Geraldine apart is the relentless modelling of positive language, goal setting and providing limitless support for students,” says Principal, Jennifer Weal.

For Geraldine, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to education. She’s constantly leading new initiatives, seeking out alternate pathways and sharing fresh perspectives in the hope of reaching that one student who may be feeling disengaged.

But the source of her greatest growth is her students. “I have learnt a great deal from my students,” says Geraldine. “My goal is to ensure every student is engaged and challenged to continue to learn, and improve, every year.”

  • Colin Taranto offers a wealth of expertise, a commitment to evolve with the industry and unwavering dedication to his students. As a trainer in Timber Systems Design, he goes the extra mile to ensure the highest standard.

With 39 years’ experience working across a range of timber manufacturing and design roles, Colin offers foundational knowledge while delivering up-to-date information. “Staying current with ever-changing technology, equipment and Australian Standards is key to developing assessment tools aligned with today’s practices,” says Colin.

Colin’s forward-thinking approach put him on the front foot when Covid disrupted face-to-face learning as he’d already been using video calls to deliver training sessions to trainees in various locations. “I was developing this pre-Covid, so when Covid arrived it was business as usual,” says Colin.

But where Colin shines is his level of commitment. “Supporting learners on their journey is critical to a successful outcome for both parties. It’s about building the relationship, rapport and trust we need over an 18-month period.”
